Melody Watson shares highlights of the ‘Cedar Math Inquiry’ that was started in 2020 as a whole school initiative. Highlights include forest discovery, non-standard measuring, shapes in our forest, weaving, and bentwood boxes.

The goal of this initiative was:

  • Incorporate First Peoples’ worldview and perspectives to make connection to mathematical concepts
  • Engage in problem-solving experiences connected to place, story, cultural practices, and perspectives relative to Local First Peoples’ communities, the local community and other cultures.
