PEDAGOGICAL APPROACH
First Peoples’ Principles of Learning, Place-based Learning

In this presentation, David Barnum shares how his grade 3 students observed and journaled about ecosystems and embraced a First Peoples Principle of Learning through connectedness and a sense of place. David’s goal is to take a “step back and let the teachings of the more-than-human world infuse connection to place and a recognition that we are ‘within the ecosystem'”.

David can also be seen giving a presentation on rethinking learning environments through the community as a classroom framework.
