PEDAGOGICAL APPROACH
Indigenous Storywork

Jennifer Dionne’s lesson uses Rhonda Girard’s The First Salmon Run to introduce Grade 5 students to elapsed time. By following Papa Bear and his cubs from morning to evening, students explore the concept of time passing. To deepen their understanding, students creatively share their own elapsed time stories through acting, writing, drawing, PowerPoint presentations, or oral presentations.
