Allison Higinbotham’s lesson uses the WSANEC Clam Garden Restoration Project and/or Roy Henry Vickers’ If You Want to Visit a Sea Garden to explore the legend of “How Clams Came to Be.” Students analyze maps, images, and videos of clam gardens to understand their history and restoration efforts, while also considering Indigenous knowledge and practices.
