PEDAGOGICAL APPROACH
First Peoples Principles of Learning, Indigenous Storywork

This project sought to integrate the numeracy cycle with First Peoples Principles of Learning. By focusing on grade six measurement standards and the curricular competency of communication and representation, the task aimed to empower students as permaculture Indigenous garden specialists. Students explored volume, area, perimeter, and angle while designing unique gardens. The project centred on Indigenous Storywork, allowing students to investigate mathematical concepts through a culturally relevant and student-driven inquiry.
