PEDAGOGICAL APPROACH
Place-Based Learning, Creative-Arts

This interdisciplinary project merges math and First Peoples’ Perspectives and culture. Students will develop critical measurement skills while delving into the Secwepemc culture and history. By examining the construction of a pit house, students will explore how cultural practices and environmental factors influence structural design. The accompanying resources provide comprehensive support for teachers, including a pre-assessment booklet, detailed lesson plans, material preparation guidelines, student worksheets, and a final presentation template.
